We are an Argentine mining company dedicated to the extraction and processing of borates in its own deposits located in the Cordillera de los Andes, at 4000 meters above sea level.
Ulex S.A. It was founded in 1987 with the support of an important Argentine business group and has managed to settle in the demanding international markets in a solid and definitive way.
From a privileged geographical position in the Province of Salta, Argentina, it distributes its products, shipping to the Pacific through Chilean ports and to the Atlantic through Argentine ports.
The Sol de Mañana mine is located in the province of Salta, in the Northwest of the Argentine Republic in the Puna Salteña, Cordillera de los Andes at 4000 meters above sea level.
This site is located in the town of Sijes, Los Andes Department, 80 km from San Antonio de los Cobres.

Environmental Impact reports are presented regularly before the Provincial Mining Authority.
Boron is an essential micronutrient for plants, vital for their growth and development. It is a 100% organic fertilizer that preserves the environment.
Due to its strong flux action, boron is an essential ingredient in many glazes and ceramic glazes.
Boron is an important ingredient in many types of crystals such as wool and fiberglass.
Different forms of borates are used to produce detergents and cleaning products such as bleaching agents, enzyme stabilizers, alkaline buffers and others.
Borates are used in the production of steel and non-ferrous metals, alloys, magnets and welding compounds due to their fluxing activity during the smelting process, impurity dissolution and metal protection.
Boron minerals were formed approximately 6 million years ago by deposition in lagoons with strong evaporation, salt type from water contributions related to volcanic activity. This resulted in the formation of stratified layers of ore with intercalations of layers of sterile material.
The work of exploitation of the minerals HYDROBORACITE and COLEMANITE begins by removing the material that is on the mineralized layer. Once the mineral layer is cleaned, it is fractured by transporting it out of the mine to a place destined for a granulometry selection work. This selection consists of the separation by size by means of inclined grids.
The mineral thus fragmented is sent to the crushing plant where it is reduced in size until the one required by the customer is achieved. The products obtained are sent to two washing plants using water that removes most of the clay. The ore is then dried and sent back to the crushing plant which again reduces the size to fractions based on the previously agreed specifications. Finally, the finished product is packed in the requested packaging.
Periodic quality controls are carried out in our laboratories throughout the process.
